BRIEF INFORMATION

Take a break in the heart of the jungle, what better place than the Tambopata National Reserve with one of its main natural attractions the “Sandoval Lake” surrounded by exuberant flora and fauna.

  • TRANSPORTATION: By car and boat.
  • ACTIVITIES: Bird watching, hiking, paddle boat ride, botanical walk, palm lick, caimaneo (caimaneo), night walk.
  • DIFFICULTY: Mild
  • CLOTHING RECOMMENDATION: Do not wear black clothing, it attracts mosquitoes, wear light clothing and neutral colors to nature (green, beige, brown, gray.), insect repellent and sunscreen are essential in the jungle.
  • WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: Flashlights with extra batteries, rain poncho, sunglasses, swimwear, hats or caps, medium size backpack, cameras, binoculars, sandals, extra money and water bottle.

ITINERARY

DAY 1:
Reception to our traveler at the airport or bus station and transfer to our Green Jungle Tours office for registration. Then we will transfer to our pier where we will take our boat to go to the hotel (40 minutes trip), as a welcome to the hotel you will have a refreshing juice made with fruits of the region, at the same time you will be informed of the policies of our hotel by the guide, then we will settle in our rooms provided.


After a pleasant rest we will visit the monkey island located in the middle of the Madre de Dios River a couple of minutes from our hotel, there you can see different species of monkeys even a hybrid species, hopefully we can also observe sloths and turtles, we return to the hotel for lunch.


After a delicious lunch and a small siesta, we will have a two-hour hike in the dense tropical forest, guided by an expert local guide, who will take us through our trails and we can see a variety of medicinal plants and trees that can be more than six hundred years old, On our trails you will always have the opportunity to see wildlife such as monkeys, parrots, macaws, squirrels, reptiles, insects, frogs, arachnids, among others, feel the pure energy of the mother jungle living magical moments inside the Tambopata National Reserve.


At night we take our boat to go in search of nocturnal animals that are always on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, we have the opportunity to see alligators of different sizes, owls, nightjars and hopefully the world’s largest rodent capybaras, we return for dinner.

DAY 2:
One of the best times to see abundant wildlife is at sunrise or sunset in our case we chose to leave at dawn in our boat towards Sandoval Lake located within the Tambopata National Reserve, witness the lush biodiversity that has Sandoval Lake is simply incomparable, to reach Lake Sandoval we walk along a wooden path of almost 3 km (1.8 miles).

Along the walk we are always surprised by the rich fauna that has this place, at the end of the road we find a small dock where we take a rowboat to make our tour of Lake Sandoval in this journey we might see black caimans, giant otters, herons, turtles, monkeys, macaws, wild ducks, and much more, we return to the lodge before noon for our lunch.


In the afternoon we go out to visit a family of natives belonging to the “Matsigenka” culture where we will interact with them learning part of their culture, we will learn to use bows and arrows, to spin and weave cotton to make their clothing called (Cushma), they also teach us to make ropes using the bark of plants and finally show us their ingenuity to make fire just using nature, we return to the hotel for a pleasant rest.


At dusk the jungle begins to offer us a majestic night life, very different from the usual day life, for this tour we will have to go out with our flashlights and we will go into the trails in search of nocturnal wildlife such as porcupines, sloths, arachnids, insects, reptiles, opossums, night monkeys, owls, among others. We return to the hotel for dinner and then rest.

DAY 3:
OPTIONAL EXCURSION
After a pleasant night and a good breakfast, we go to visit a farm (local crops) where we will learn to graft plants and see soil types, we can also taste and see typical plantations of the rainforest, such as coffee, different types of cocoa, citrus, ingas, bananas, among others. We return to the hotel around noon.
After lunch we offer you as an option to rest at the hotel and at sunset, we return to the city to pick up the luggage in case you have left it in our office, then we go to the airport or if you have travel by bus we go to the bus station.
